The other problem is that the design of the boss (with knocking off the arm) expects you to be aggressive and attack closely and quickly but there are a lot of close attacks that you can't really avoid when you're that close, including one where he grabs you and that's always an instant death.

Now it seems like I have to grind for amrita or better loot so I can cause enough damage fast enough to guarantee I knock off a little snake. I didn't have too hard of a time with the rest of the mission, so I was only level 12 when I first reached him, and now I've only leveled up once since then. It seems like success is very dependent on knocking at least one little snake arm off before the Yokai Realm, and doing that is highly dependent on stats/leveling. If you can kill on snake arm you can essentially run away from the other snake while attacking the boss. The addition of bosses taking you to the yokai realm and changing their attack attributes is great and I welcome the change but there needs to be some way of balancing out the debuff more effectively.Įdit: just beat it again. On a more general note I do like what Nioh 2 is trying to do. Is anyone aware of a weakness that I might be overlooking? I recall in the Umi-bozu fight the adds were weak to fire so you had a way to deal with them quickly. While in the yokai realm I think the snake adds have a little too much health. It feels like his attacks do too much ki damage, even while in mid-stance. His rush attack's hitbox is slightly too big which causes you to get clipped by the attack from time to time when trying to dodge (not run to the side of it). I think the general concept of the boss is great but the gameplay mechanics were poorly executed. Beat it with the hatchets that were blessed. Disclaimer: I just beat this boss without summoning help.
